The Changing Face of Writing Desks

Writing desks have been in use since the 1600. They are usually smaller in size than any regular desk and are used for reading or writing. Traditionally the desks were used to write down letters, so they were originally designed with adjustable tops which could be lowered when writing anything private or secretive. They usually are made of wood or steel as these materials are very strong and durable and can withstand rough handling.
