The Nikon P7000 is the latest in the coolpix point and shoot lineup of Nikon Digital Cameras and sure to be a best digital camera in the upcoming months as the holiday shopping season comes into full swing for 2010.

It’s clear that Nikon aims to compete with the very popular G series digital cameras from Nikon as the new Nikon P7000 offers the same rangefinder look, feel and feature set as the Nikon G11 and now, G12 rangefinder style cameras.

The Nikon P7000 is not a cheap digital camera and is marketed at the advanced or even professional photographer who is in the market for an advanced rangefinder style camera but without the added weight and expense of additional lenses and camera bodies as you would find in a conventional SLR camera system.

The rangefinder body style offers of course, a contemporary viewfinder option in addition to the option of being able to compose photos with the included LCD display. On the top of the Nikon P7000 body is handy dials to control common manual and automatic camera settings such as shutter speed, aperture, white balance, ISO and bracketing are all avialable with the dials which is much handier than having to navigate a software menu to change camera settings.

Flexibility is the one major feature of the new Nikon P7000 thanks in part to the included 7.1 zoom lens which offers a zoom focal length of 28mm to 200m making the new compact nikon camera a perfect choice regardless of whether you choose to shoot wide angle photography such as landscape or want to get close to the action with the 200mm zoom lens setting making this little Nikon a very versatile and lightweight digital camera choice when considering digital camera choices in 2010 for both the advanced and professional photographer on your holiday shopping list.
