Mayline Drafting Tables: What to Look For

Are you an architect, or maybe an engineer? Maybe you just love to draw or write? Whichever it may be, something like a Mayline drafting table is certainly of use to you. A drafting table can be used on anything as long as it involves using a piece of paper and a pen or pencil. May it be writing a book, designing buildings or costumes, or even just drawing some comic strips. Its structure is designed in such a way that the surface of the table is tilted towards whoever is using it, making it less strenuous for the back and neck.

Before we start, let me give you a little over view on what a drafting table is. Well, basically, it’s a table used for the very purpose of writing, drawing, and designing. Some people use the drafting table for making cartoons like in Disney. Mickey Mouse was made on a drafting table – so are all the other cartoon characters you see on TV or in the big screen. Costume designers as well as fashion designers also use drafting tables for their work, too. Some drafting tables even have the inches inscribed on their surfaces, like a ruler.

Prices of drafting tables vary depending on the materials used for making them. Some people use Oak, Mahogany, even driftwood, for the tables. You can also have drafting tables custom-made, but it would probably cost a little bit more. Some drafting tables are also made of plastic, making it immune to termites; a definite small advantage. Though it can’t be eaten by pests, it’s also not as strong as those made of wood. Some are even made of metal – pretty tough and immune to termites. The only problem is that not everyone would want to draw on a metal surface. Wooden drafting tables are actually the more preferable choice by most people.

For a professional designer (fashion, buildings, houses), a drafting table must be like a favorite item; something that you can bring along all the time. It should be portable and easy to put away to avoid damaging it. A drafting table is very useful for professional designers because it makes their job easier and more comfortable.

Sometimes, we find ourselves looking for the perfect gift for someone, or for ourselves; something that can be of use for a long time and something that could help in developing skills. Drafting tables are the perfect choice if you’re looking for something to do just that. Though some may come expensive, there are still a lot of tables out there which offer the same benefits for a cheaper price. As long as it could serve its purpose, then that would be a great investment!
