Do you need a cheap locking white file cabinet but you don’t want to buy one of the particle board file cabinets sold at many discount superstores which are bound to break or chip or stain in the not to distant future? If so you are like most people. Nobody really wants to own these simple and inexpensive pieces of furniture because they don’t last very long. The trouble is it’s hard to find quality office furniture at affordable prices. If this describes your predicament you may have not thought of the real possibility of buying your  second hand office furniture from a used furniture retailer or thrift store.

It may not seem glamorous but many thrift stores and used merchandise merchants have many quality pieces of furniture that are made of solid wood and will hold up for decades. In fact many of the items in these stores already have held up for decades and that is due to the quality of workmanship that was put into the final product. Sure you will be sacrificing newness for price but you can’t go wrong with the quality for the low used price.

Let’s face it; nothing stays new for very long and cheap items lose their newness even faster. Thrift stores which happen to stock older well made items often sell items which are antique and original pieces. If you are into individuality and unique design you will certainly not go wrong buying used.

With file cabinets found in thrift stores, antique stores, and used outlets you may have trouble finding a locking cabinet. Let’s say you are shopping for your white filing cabinet and you find the perfect cabinet but it is missing a lock. Luckily for you many parts manufacturers right now sell locking mechanisms like the Hon file cabinet lock which is easily retrofitted to just about any cabinet with a little effort. This will add to the security of the cabinet but not very much to the prices as file cabinet locks are usually quite affordable.
