Investing in Leather Furniture for the Office
Categorized: Chairs | No comments
How many times have you stepped into an office environment, finding the employees sitting on cold, plastic chairs that don’t flex or bend to conform to each person’s frame? We’ve all read the articles about how posture makes a huge difference not only to your health, but also to your productivity. There’s no place where productivity is more valuable than in the office, so it clearly pays to consider your employees’ posture and comfort when it comes to maintaining a happy and productive environment.
While the traditional plastic chairs that you see in most offices are certainly very cost effective in the short run, you are still looking at significant expense in the long run. Consider the fact that you may be paying into health insurance plans for your workers, and all of a sudden the connection becomes more clear. The more claims your employees file, the more you are going to end up paying into increased premiums.
Leather office chairs are a great way around this kind of expense, although they do come at a higher initial cost. However, many of these pieces are designed for maximum comfort and long lasting quality.
On the comfort side of the equation, most leather is very malleable, and you can find all different thicknesses and support types depending on the environment you are buying for. While you might want to buy a leather recliner that you can just sink into at home, your priorities are understandably going to be very different for the office. There are many products out there that will give you plenty of comfort while still maintaining enough support that you won’t fall asleep while you’re at work.
On the other hand, you have the quality of the furniture, itself, to consider. Most traditional fabric furniture pieces will simply not stand the test of time compared to the resilience of leather. In fact, leather improves with age, becoming even more comfortable as the natural oils are released and the material stretches a bit to accommodate normal human weight.
The best leather chair, while sometimes expensive at first, will pay for itself over time in terms of support and build quality.
